Re: BU's Nickerson Field, Boston Massachusetts - Home of the Boston Breakers Dear Gentlemen: Let me start by saying that the choice of FieldTurf for our new field surface and Northeast Turf as installer was the best decision we could have made for the Breaker team and fans. We continue to be amazed by the way this artificial surface "looks, feels and plays like grass." FieldTurf's slogan is right on. Our players were able to make an immediate transition to the new surface because it is so much like grass. Our goal was to bring a state of the art facility to Boston in order to highlight our new women's professional soccer team. The FieldTurf field was the key ingredient to making that happen. The field is extremely consistent in terms of playability and safety and it looks and performs beautifully in all kinds of weather. We are also very proud, but not surprised, that our field was the very first site in the world to receive the FIFA Recommendation. Due to the FieldTurf drainage system design you recommended, we were able to eliminate the typical large crown found on most artificial fields. The players like the flatter field and it is a better game to watch for our fans. In addition to supplying us with the FieldTurf product, I'd like to thank you and your organization for the care and professionalism you showed during the installation. I know removing the frozen AstroTurf was difficult in the middle of January. I know digging up and disposing of the concrete base was frustrating and getting 100 trucks a day in and out of the campus was a huge challenge. You handled all of this without a glitch, all while holding to our tight timeline for our scheduled opening. I was impressed and comforted to see each of your management team working side-by-side with your installation crew. I guess that's why the finer details like the curbing, manhole covers and goal sleeves were handled perfectly. You did everything you promised and met our deadline. We are continually inundated with requests for information from other cities and teams about our field. We are happy to recommend FieldTurf and Northeast Turf to anyone. When asked about FieldTurf, all I say is that it's unfair to call it anything but grass. When pressed to criticize it, all I can say is that it doesn't smell like grass.
